About
Welcome to the cozy haven that is the Log Cabin Restaurant, nestled along the serene banks of the Chattahoochee River in Blakely, Georgia. This charming spot, located at 2619 Lower River Rd, is more than just a place to eat; it’s an experience that promises delectable dining paired with a welcoming ambiance. Featuring an inviting rustic charm, the Log Cabin Restaurant captures the essence of Southern hospitality.
What sets this establishment apart is not only its delicious offerings but also the sense of community it fosters. Guests are often greeted like long-lost neighbors by the friendly staff and the resident dogs, creating an atmosphere of warmth and familiarity. Be prepared for a little wait, especially during peak hours, as it seems that good food has a way of bringing people together. Still, many patrons assure it’s well worth the time spent; a sentiment echoed by Misty McLendon, who praises the consistent quality of cuisine served here.
Speaking of the food, the menu at Log Cabin Restaurant is a treasure trove of Southern delights. Diners rave about the house-made ranch, often mentioned as a standout dip, perfect for complementing their freshly prepared dishes. The catfish is notably hailed as phenomenal, while the ribeye steak has earned a reputation for being both enormous and grilled to perfection. Spencer Rose, a visitor from out of town, highlighted this steak, describing it as the biggest he's ever attempted to eat—a true testament to the generous portions this establishment is known for.
For those who crave authenticity, the cheese grits here are said to be outstanding. One visitor, W D, noted how perfectly fried everything was, asserting that the dishes are so flavorful that condiments are unnecessary. Every item on the menu reflects a commitment to quality and tradition, making every meal feel like a special occasion.
Enhancing your experience further, David M. suggests taking your meal to-go and enjoying it as you watch the sunset over the river—a picturesque conclusion to a satisfying dining adventure. The restaurant’s limited hours and days are a deliberate choice, ensuring that each dish is crafted with the utmost care and attention, a philosophy to which all small businesses should aspire.
While it’s wise to plan ahead, as the Log Cabin Restaurant accepts only cash or card, the rewards are plentiful. As you savor dishes that boast both flavor and generous portions, you'll recognize why many consider this charming hideaway the best restaurant in the South, if not the world. Whether you’re returning for the infamous quail or your first taste of Southern comfort, the Log Cabin Restaurant guarantees a culinary experience you won’t soon forget.
“ Everything we have ever eaten here has always been delicious....its a very cozy little place....and it is DEFINITELY worth the wait ”
“ We finally made the trek from Dothan to try this place after hearing nothing but good things about it. It is true that they are only cash or card, so just plan ahead for that. We only had about a 10 minute wait for a table on a Saturday around 7. Their house made ranch is very good, and the catfish was phenomenal. The steak is good, and HUGE - be prepared to get a box. The restaurant only has about a dozen tables, but I think that helps the wait staff be attentive. All in all, great experience. Looking forward to coming back to try the quail. ”
“ Absolutely delicious. We are from out of town and were recommended this place and it did not disappoint. I could have drank the ranch and the ribeye was quite literally the biggest steak I have ever attempted to eat- I could not finish it in one sitting. Also it was cooked to perfection. ”
“ Outstanding! Cheese grits are the best. I had the platter. Everything was fried perfectly. U don't need tarter sauce, etc. It's that good! ”
“ Take your meals to go and watch the sunset over the Chattahoochee River! If you can’t get a seat, anyway. This is my favorite restaurant in the South, perhaps the world. The steak and seafood here are amazing. This is an old-school restaurant which is run with passion and in the owners’ own style. You are welcomed onto The Log Cabin property as if you were visiting longtime neighbors; greeted by sweet dogs, saying hello to other guests, friendly staff, and a classic setting. They have limited days and hours, and the quality is very high as a result. This is the way that all small businesses should be. A friend grew up in the area and recommended The Log Cabin to me. I was returning to Fort Rucker from Tallahassee and decided to stop at The Log Cabin. The drive and the restaurant were perfect. I miss the Adirondack Mountains, and this restaurant has that country and outdoor atmosphere of the ADK’s. Beware- the wait times are very long and they do not accept credit cards - but if you face a wait, a scenic overview of the river is just two minutes down the road. It’s perfect. ”
“ The best restaurant you'll find in the middle of nowhere. If you get there after 5:45, you'll wait at least an hour to get in. We got there about 7:00 local time and waited for 1 hour 15 minutes, mainly because some other people got tried of waiting and left bumping us up. Although this is a pain, it gives you an indication of how popular the place is. With COVID regulations it is serving 50 percent of the dining space contributing to the longer wait times. But we thought it was worth the wait. My wife got the shrimp and scallops, I got the crab claws. We both had salad and cheese grits for our sides and split the onion rings for an appetizer. The grilled food was better, in my opinion than the fired crab claws. It was truly great tasting grilled seafood, some of the best we'd had. My crab claws were a little small, something they apologized for and was not as good as I had hoped, but still very acceptable and tasty. The onion rings were homemade, crispy, thin and fantastic. One other thing you need to know, they only take cash and checks, so be prepared. Also be prepared to think you are on the wrong road because it will seem that you are headed to l;the middle of the woods. Well you are, but that's where the restaurant is located. Its a unique dining option with great food, so if you are looking for something a little different, this is the place. ”
“ Would eat here every night if we could. Ribeye is delicious and well worth the money. Portions are big! Appetizers: fried pickles, clam strips, crab cakes all delicious. Fried shrimp, coleslaw, hamburger steak with onion gravy, good ranch. Ate here two nights in a row and considering making it a third. We want to try the fried catfish and grilled shrimp. ”
“ Wonderful people. We are treated like family each time we go. The food is delicious. ”
